Abuse/Trauma Statistics
Abuse is a very troubling topic in today's society. It is estimated that 680,000 kids were abused at some point in their life. It is also estimated that twenty percent of marriages are abusive physically or mentally. Because of these numbers more than one third of people who were abused in their life become the abuser. More than 12 million people get abused in one year. It is also estimated that 80 percent of people are abused at some point in their life.
This number is absolutely horrifying along with all of the other numbers. All of these numbers should be at zero. Bullying can cause severe damage on some kids and is experienced by 19% of teens. 12% are bullied on a daily basis. Twelve percent of bullying is physical, and the rest is mental, or emotional. 33% of teens in America are victims of sexual, physical, verbal, or emotional dating abuse.
