Remember like all problems the faster it is reported the faster people can fix the problem. Right now we will be talking about Mental illnesses and Mental disorders relating to teen abuse and trauma. Trauma can lead to many mental/behavioral problems. Trauma can cause PTSD in teens and in most cases will impact them in life. Another thing is abuse can make kids more cautious and even make them have reactions from the smallest threats. When you are a kid, changing into a teen your brain and mental state is at its highest risk for developing a disorder.
The next thing we will be talking about is the effect of teen abuse and trauma on the brain. One thing to remember is abuse and trauma is most likely to impact a person long term if it is happening between the ages of 10-16, these are the times when major brain development takes place.
Another thing about abuse and trauma is that It can cause issues with the brain. It can create emotional, behavioral or learning issues with your teen. Something else to consider is when teens are not safe, their brains main concern isn’t learning. Equally important, teens may struggle with things such as lower academic achievement, depression, suicide, and substance abuse. Another thing is trauma and abuse can have a big impact on decision and goal setting abilities.
