
Types of Abuse/Trauma Experienced by Teens
Physical abuse is one of the most common types of abuse and the type that most people do to their teens or their significant other. It is only counted as physical when there is a bruise, cut, or broken bone on their body. This is the type of abuse that most people have heard of and know of but there is more than just one type of abuse. Another type of abuse is Sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is when a person is forced to unwillingly take part in sexual activity. Sexual abuse has a lot effects, for example depression and flashbacks are two very troubling effects of sexual abuse. Flashbacks are a common effect of sexaul abuse for teens and adults because their memories of sexaul abuse and past traumas feel as if they are taking place in the current moment. Another effect of sexaul abuse is self harm, self harm is when people inflict physical harm on themselves. People inflict self harm usually in private places and without suicidal intentions.


Some common forms of self harm are biting, burning, cutting, hitting the body, pulling out hair, and scratching their own skin. One of the most important effects of sexaul abuse is post- truamatic stress disorder. post- traumatic stress disorder is an anxiety disorder that can result from a traumatic event. Survivors of PTSD might experience feelings of stress, fear, anxiety, and nervousness. They can also feel constantly in danger and it is difficult for them to get through their everyday lives. Another type of abuse is emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is when someone is saying something rude to you or is offending you with words to make you feel stupid or worthless. It may not look like it but this is a type of abuse but when you get something done to you emotionally it hurts very bad and feels like physical abuse to your mind. Another type of abuse is financial exploitation. Financial exploitation is the misuse or the action of taking assets of a vulnerable adult or elderly person for his or her own personal benefit.
